Endodontics, also known as killing the nerve, has the objective of saving your tooth. The name Endodontics comes from the word endo (inside) and odonto (tooth). It consists in the removal of the dental pulp followed by filling and sealing the pulp canal.
Endodontic treatment is necessary when the dental pulp has suffered irreversible damage. This problem is known as pulpitis and, as it can’t be fixed, the only option is the removal of the dent pulp.
Untreated cavities that reach the dental pulp and cause an infection generating continuous and permanent pain that increases with cold, hot, sweet, or acidic stimulus.
Use of local anesthesia that only affects the tooth and area to be treated.
A small opening is made through the chewing surface of the tooth to be able to reach the pulp for its removal while isolating the tooth from any potential infection.
Cleaning of the canals
The cleaned canals are sealed leaving the tooth without sensitivity.
An x-ray is taken so the specialist can verify the successful completion of the procedure.
