Dental cleaning, also known as dental prophylaxis, is a cleaning procedure performed through ultrasound which acts through vibrations and pressurized water. This procedure removes tartar, stains, and plaque. It also prevents gum problems, bad breath, and helps maintain good dental hygiene.
Teeth cleaning takes over an hour and consists of the following steps: tartar removal with ultrasound, polishing, and silk and interproximal strips. It also includes brushing technique and, if necessary, application of fluoride.
Most mouth and dental problems can be avoided with proper dental cleaning. Tartar may also exist on and under gums and may irritate them.
Tartar is responsible of cavities, bad breath, and periodontal problems. Even with good dental hygiene it is impossible to avoid tartar, hence is recommended to visit your dentist clinic regularly.
