Teeth whitening is the aesthetic treatment that lightens the teeth natural color for a whiter and brighter look. It can be made at home or in the dentist’s office. Both are excellent options although it depends on the patient’s preference on which is best.
This procedure is made for the patient to apply it in the comfort of their home obtaining the best results without any inconveniences.
We give the patient a set of personalized guards and a 10% or 15% hydrogen peroxide gel syringe. The gel is applied to the guards and then placed in the mouth. Guards should be worn for 6 to 8 hours a day, this way you can use them during daytime or while sleeping for 2 weeks.

The treatment is made by an Odontologist specialized in Dental Aesthetics and it consists of isolating gums to avoid contact with the 35% or 40% peroxide gel that is placed over the teeth to whiten them.

Although teeth whitening is a safe procedure, we should consider it is not recommended in patients under 18, patients with periodontal problems or cavities, and during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
It is recommended to avoid colored food and beverages for 10 to 15 days after the procedure. These include coffee, tea, dark sodas, red wine, chocolate, carrots, tomatoes, beet root, etc. it is also recommended to reduce tobacco consumption.
Teeth whitening may last a lifetime and it is not common for teeth to go back to their original color, however, it depends on each patient’s habits and dental hygiene.
